Your cat should visit the vet. Dandruff isn’t necessarily a big problem, although it can be unsightly, but you may be able to lessen its appearance with a change in diet, the addition of an omega-3 supplement or a bath with a treated shampoo.
You might see an uptick in dandruff during dry winter months. Because your cat’s dandruff is combined with hair loss, however, you’ll want your vet to rule out a more serious condition. Allergies, skin parasites and such serious but manageable metabolic diseases as hyperthyroidism and diabetes are among the possible culprits.
