PetSafe is awarding $100,000 to a U.S. town or city for a new dog park.
“In our hometown of Knoxville, Tenn., we’ve worked with the community to build several dog parks, and we’ve seen firsthand the positive impact they’ve had,” says Randy Boyd, president and CEO of contest sponsor PetSafe. “Dog parks not only offer pet parents alternate locations for outdoor pet recreation, but they also strengthen the sense of community among local pet owners. We’re thrilled to launch ‘Bark for Your Park’ to help another city build a community dog park.”
From now until June 1, you can enter your town or city in the contest by clicking here.
“The No.1 thing we’re looking for is community enthusiasm,” Boyd says. “Communities can show their enthusiasm not only by logging lots of individual support on barkforyourpark.com, but also by telling us about the fun and creative ways dog park supporters are working together. Whether you host a special event, spread the word on Facebook or partner with a local animal welfare group, we want to know what your community is doing to create excitement.”

During July, PetSafe will post short videos about each of the 15 finalist cities. Voting on the finalists will remain open for three weeks, and popular vote will decide the winner.
“We anticipate that this contest will inspire many animal lovers and community leaders to work together to achieve this goal for their city,” Boyd said. “We want to hear everyone ‘bark’ for their park!”
