Homeless Man Receives Help for His Dog

A charity stepped in when they discovered a homeless man carrying his dog everywhere so the animal’s feet wouldn’t burn on the hot cement.

It’s summer and depending on where you live it could get really hot outside. If you’ve ever tried to walk across the sidewalk or driveway barefoot in such temperatures, chances are you ran back to a grassy or cool area because your feet were burning. That kind of heat is no good for the paws of our four-legged friends.

A homeless man in Arizona was all too aware of it, choosing to carry his dog, Roger, everywhere instead of letting the dog suffer. Seeing this, a woman named Lisa Peterson who had given food to the man, offered to reach out to Cheryl King Wade of Helping Hands for Homeless Hounds, an organization that provides veterinary care and licensing as well as food and supplies to pets of homeless people, to get him a stroller for Roger. Peterson’s Facebook post states that volunteer Tabatha Bunch got in contact with her and was able to provide the man and his dog with “food, water, snacks, goodies and of course a stroller.” They were even able to get Roger neutered.

Now this man has one less thing to worry about. And Helping Hands for Homeless Hounds were able to give something that may seem small to some but was immense to Roger and his human.

If you wish to make a donation to Roger’s care, visit the Helping Hands for Homeless Hounds PayPal page and include “Roger” in the memo section. General donations are also accepted.
