Hello Kitty’s Airplane Lands in L.A.

The inconic Japanese cat has teamed up with EVA Air to connect Asia to North America with a cargo of cuteness.

Hello Kitty made her first flight to Los Angeles aboard her Boeing 777 jet yesterday, landing amid much fanfare. Watch the slideshow below to see the Sanrio characters and insanely adorable airplane cabin accessories at the EVA Air jet debut party in the Los Angeles International Airport.

EVA Air Captain K.W. Chang flew the jet from Taipei, Taiwan, to kick off the new route for the cartoon kitty’s regular trans-Pacific treks. Starting Sep. 20, EVA Air will offer 17 weekly flights from Los Angeles to Taipei. The 312-seat plane has three classes of seat from Royal Laurel to Elite to Economy Class, each decked out its own seriously cute Sanrio style.

About 70 fans flew in on the plane, which is decorated with 19 of Sanrio’s characters holding hands. Sanrio characters were in attendance at the landing party as well, including Dear Daniel, Little Twin Stars Kiki and Lala, Cinnamaroll, My Melody, Keroppi and Hello Kitty herself.

Dancing, cheerful announcing, cupcaking and nail-painting marked the evening celebration. Super fans mixed with local mayors to watch the Hello Kitty dance troupe and have their hands adorned by nail artists from Japan.
