Thanks to some creative type, hamster wheels are much less of a futile exercise of frantically getting nowhere and more of a beautiful method of expression.
The Hamster Powered Hamster Drawing Machine by Neil Mendoza uses the rotation of the rodent exercise contraption to operate a system of mechanics to make a portrait while spinning. Mendoza used precise engineering to pull off the feat and it is quite a marvel to behold.
While a hamster runs on a simple wheel, a second, larger wheel beside it spins and sketches an image of a hamster running on a wheel. It preserves in pencil the very moment that created it.
It’s extremely productive for an activity that used to be really limited. Now how are we supposed to poetically say that we are wasting our time and energy? Thanks, art.
