Greyhounds Seek Adoptive Homes

400 former racing greyhounds seeking new homes.

I can’t think of a better way to brighten the holidays than to adopt a greyhound, says Rory Goree, president of Greyhound Pets of America, an organization that finds homes for retired racing greyhounds. Greyhounds make wonderful pets.

This holiday season, the organization says it is seeking homes for 400 former racing hounds. Greyhounds placed through the adoption program are generally between 18 months and four years old. They are intelligent, quiet, clean, gentle, and adapt easily to the home environment, according to the organization. Despite perceptions to the contrary, greyhounds do not need a great deal of space to run, Goree says. Like any dog, they need exercise, but when they are inside the house, they enjoy curling up on a soft blanket.
