Go For The Gold

AKC/USA Agility World Team member captures Gold at the 2011 FCI Agility World Championship in Lieven, France.

Ashley Deacon and his nine-year-old Pyrenean Shepherd “Luka,” captured individual Gold in the Medium Dogs class field. They beat out 82 competitors from 36 countries and also placed first in the Individual Agility Round.

Nineteen-year-old first-time team member Tori Self and her Border Collie “Rev,” won the Large Dog Team Jumping class out of 93 teams, placing over many former world champions.

The AKC/USA Team sent 11 competitors to France, comprising Small, Medium and Large Dog teams. Over the three days, team members completed thirty-six runs in the Team and Individual competitions.

“Our team members dedicate a lot of time and effort to training and competing year-round and should be congratulated for their accomplishments in France. We also thank our many sponsors, supporters and the AKC Agility community for their support, which plays a huge role in the World Team’s success” says AKC Director of Agility Carrie DeYoung.
