In her role in The Shaggy Dog as Rebecca Douglas, a straight-laced mom who balances kids, career, and a husband who’s turned into a dog, actress Kristin Davis can’t be further from Sex and the City, the HBO hit that made her famous.
I’m a dog lover, I love dog movies, and I was so happy to have this chance to be in one, says Davis, who co-stars in the film with Tim Allen. For me, it was really nice to play such a different kind of character from Charlotte on Sex and the City, a mom who’s about warmth and being with her children.
Davis said the transition from working with fur-coat wearing co-stars to a fur-covered one was made especially easy by Coal, the smart Bearded Collie who plays the title role. Coal amazed me because he literally did anything and everything he was asked to do. I mean, unbelievable — beyond anyones wildest expectations of what a dog can do.
The actress offers similar praise for Allen, who plays Dave, the husband who morphs into the family pet. He’s really a force of nature. You never know what he’s going to do next, so its a surprise every minute.
