Free Flight

"Free flight" is a term where a bird is allowed to fly outside.

Humans are cautioned to work with an experienced trainer prior to attempting this. Parrots must first be trained to fly down and to flawless recall to decrease the odds of having the bird not return once released. Owners need also to understand the inherent dangers of free flying, as domestic-bred parrots are rarely adept at predator avoidance and many are lost to hawks.
