Fluval Ships SP Series Aquarium Sump Pumps

Fluval SP2, SP4 and SP6 sump pumps are designed for marine, reef and freshwater applications.

Rolf C. Hagen Corp. is shipping new pump additions to its Fluval line of aquarium products. The Fluval SEA Sump Pumps come in three sizes and are all designed for marine, reef, and freshwater aquariums.

The Fluval Sea Sump SP2 ($209.99) offers a flow rate of 1,000 gallons per hour, a 6.2 feet head height and runs on 55 watts of power. The SP4 ($289.99) offers a 1,900 gallons per hour flow rate, 11.2 feet head height and runs on 98 watts of power. The SP6’s 3,750 gallons per hour flow rate offers the highest rate of the trio. It has a 12.1 feet head height and runs on 145 watts of power. It is priced at $349.99.

According to the company, the sump pumps can be plumbed either in or out of a sump and can operate in submerged as well as dry settings. In addition, the SP4 and SP6 models have a built in thermal switch that will automatically shut off in the event the pump starts to function erratically, such as when an impeller is blocked. These models also use Fluval’s Smart Pump Technology, which the company says uses integrated circuit boards that continuously monitor pump RPMs for optimal results. The pumps are built using wear resistant impeller shafts and bearings made with Alumina Ceramic that the company says are designed to avoid calcium build-up and to provide long life.
