Michelle Obama is speaking out about her family’s “most famous member” – first puppy Bo, a Portuguese Water Dog.
“I have to say, he is the best puppy in the whole wide world,” Obama said Thursday at the annual Congressional Club luncheon, a gathering of congressional and senatorial spouses, spouses of Supreme Court justices and cabinet secretaries and their friends and family.
“I love him to death. He is so sweet. But he’s still a puppy,” she said.
So how are daughters Sasha and Malia doing with their dog-related chores?
“Even though the kids are supposed to do a lot of the work, I’m still up at 5:15 a.m. taking my dog out,” Obama said. “So for everyone who has a child asking for a puppy, you have to want the dog. As I do. I love my Bo.”
Obama also added that Sasha and Malia are “happy and healthy,” and fitting into their new lives well.
“They’re making friends. They’re getting good grades,” she said. “I feel like I’ve never left Chicago.”
