We’re used to seeing beautiful women – usually supermodels – driving or caressing automobiles in television commercials. That day may be coming to an end thanks to Karl Lagerfeld’s cat, Choupette, who’s decided it’s time for a female feline to take the wheel. Literally.
The cat with the book, makeup line and clothing and accessory collection can now add car pitch-cat to her extensive resume. Forget comparing her accomplishments to what my cats do (or don’t do). I’m starting to get a complex!
Opel’s chief marketing officer, Tina Müller, told Women’s Wear Daily that the current car advertising formula was “slowly getting boring.”
Choupette is anything but that as she deftly maneuvers her way around the new Corsa, pouncing on the hood, jumping off the hood and even checking herself out in the rear-view mirror like every other female does.
Choupette follows in the footsteps (paw prints?) of Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell when it comes to posing for the German car company.
Don’t tell Choupette, but it turns out she may be the cutest and first real cat to feature in an Opel commercial, but she’s not the first cat. Back in 2009 Tom and Jerry appeared in a German-version advertisement for the company. Perhaps it’s best we keep that to ourselves.
