A dog who went missing after a car accident in Texas has been found, nearly a week after the accident occurred and very close to the location of the crash.
Daisy Mae, a Labrador retriever mix, was in the back seat of her owners’ car when it was rear-ended by a semi-truck on July 11. Her owners were seriously injured and, somehow, Daisy Mae survived the impact, which crushed the rear of the car. When Daisy Mae’s owner, Erica Cruz, asked about the condition of her dog, police told her there was no sign of a deceased dog in the car, according to Cruz’s Facebook page.
Texas State Troopers looked for Daisy Mae but were unsuccessful in locating her.
Cruz then took to Facebook two days after the accident letting her friends know that Daisy Mae was still out there and had not been found.
Mutts & Mayhem Animal Rescue of McKinney, Texas, stepped in and organized a volunteer effort to locate the dog.
UPDATE: Daisy Mae is still out there, and hasn't been brought back home. Thank you to all who have been helping during…
Five days after the accident, Daisy Mae was found on an embankment not far from the crash site. She had multiple fractures on one of her femur bones which caused her leg to swell to twice the normal size. She is currently at an emergency animal hospital and is expected to make a full recovery!
