A quick-thinking emergency room doctor saved the life of a stray cat who got stuck in a hospital’s revolving doors. And then he gave the cat a whole new life by adopting him.
Halil Akyürek was at the Özel Akgün Tem Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey, where he works, when a small white cat got his head stuck in the building’s revolving glass doors. Surveillance footage shows a man leaving the exact moment the cat tried to sneak into the hospital through the revolving door. When the man pushed his side of the door forward to leave, he accidentally pinned the cat between the wall and the door on the other side.
“The cat’s neck was totally stuck,” Akyürek told news outlet Habertürkk.
Akyürek and others worked to carefully remove the pinned cat, who was struggling to breathe. They then performed CPR on him. Once the cat began to breathe again, Akyürek said he contacted a veterinarian friend to find out what medications to give his feline patient.

Akyürek could’ve been satisfied with simply saving the cat’s life that day, but the doctor went one step further. He gave the cat, now named Miracle, a home. What could’ve been Miracle’s last day on Earth ended up being the first day of his new life.
