Over Labor Day weekend, actor and professional wrestler Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared a post on his Facebook and Instagram pages detailing a frightening moment he experienced after bringing his new French Bulldog puppies, Hobbs and Brutus, home.

According to the post, Johnson had just gotten the pups home and took them outside to begin teaching them how to “handle their business and potty like big boys” when they both took off toward the pool.

Hobbs and Brutus both jumped into the deep end, and while Hobbs instinctually began doing the doggy paddle like a pro, Brutus sunk straight to the bottom. Johnson immediately jumped in after him.

Here’s a fun Labor Day weekend story… We just decided to add to new members to our Johnson family. Baby French…

“I take off into a full sprint, fully clothed, dive in the pool, swim to the bottom, rescue my brick, I mean BRUTUS and bring him back to the edge of the pool,” Johnson wrote on Facebook. “He was a little delirious.. took a moment, threw up all the water he swallowed and looked up at me as if to say, ‘Thank God you didn’t have to give me mouth to mouth!'”

Yikes! Johnson might want to consider getting a pool fence or giving little Brutus swimming lessons. Pool safety is serious business.

Luckily everything turned out fine. And somehow The Rock made us laugh, fall in love and remember how completely frightening — and rewarding — it can be to have a dog.
