My Facebook feed normally consists of dog stories, various inspirational quotes and places to travel. When I woke up early this morning and checked it, it read, “January 10, 2016 – David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer.” He had just turned 69 on Friday, the same day his latest album, “Blackstar,” was released.
The news was sad and shocking, but as I drove in to work, wishing I’d brought a Bowie CD to listen to, I couldn’t help thinking of the British musician’s influence over not just the music world, but over everyone who loved his music as well. He left such a mark on the world that social media is full of his image – and includes images of dogs paying tribute to the late musician.
Dog photographer and artist, Rafael Mantesso recreated Bowie’s Aladdin Sane album cover look on his bull terrier, Jimmy Choo. He says Bowie always inspired him.
We’ll be listening to “Diamond Dogs” and thinking beautiful, colorful thoughts as we look into the heavens tonight.
Join us in remembering him – be it by watching the films he was in, listening to his music or sharing a memory of the first time you heard “Diamond Dogs.”
