Dog Welcomes Democratic National Convention

Hercules the stylish Shih Tzu will sport a patriotic doggie tux and top hat to welcome attendees.

A patriotically dressed Shih Tzu named Hercules will compete for the media spotlight at the Democratic National Convention on Monday, Aug. 25.

Hercules, the 1-year-old director of pet relations for Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Denver, was appointed to his position of “super delegate” in 2007 and will greet convention attendees in a custom-made red, white, and blue doggie tuxedo and top hat. He’ll debut his patriotic outfit on Monday in the lobby of the hotel, ready for the Pup-arazzi.

Since he was appointed for his position in September 2007, Hercules has been responsible for meeting and greeting hotel guests and helping them feel like the pet-friendly hotel is their home away from home during this busy time for the Mile High City. He’ll also ensure that National Dog Day on Tuesday, Aug. 26, is not forgotten in the flurry of the DNC events.

The Hotel Monaco Denver is at 1717 Champa St. in downtown Denver.
