The ceremonial first pitch is a long-standing tradition at professional baseball games. Presidents, actors, musicians, gymnasts and even Cookie Monster (seriously). There have been fantastic – and surprising – first pitches and really terrible first pitches. One of the best has to be the first pitch at the Tampa Bay Rays game on April 24, 2015.
Because the ceremonial first pitch was “thrown” by a dog. OK, so he actually ran it in, but still.
Ajax, a member of the K-9 unit with the St. Petersburg Police Department in Florida, who had been bitten by a rattlesnake while pursuing a suspect according to @RaysBaseball, ran in the ceremonial first pitch. He was accompanied by Officer Joseph Lehmann.
Check out Ajax’s pitching skills:

What do you think? Is Ajax a contender for best ceremonial first pitch?
