We must admit, Guinness World Records can be exciting to watch and learn about but they can also be banal, mired in minutiae. World’s longest fingernails? Does anyone really care except the person (and Guinness World Records) who has them? Or how about the most bounces on a pogo stick? Is that so exciting that there is a Pogopalooza each year to see if a record can be broken? Nah. The exciting records to be broken are broken by dogs.
Take Twinkie the Jack Russell Terrier. She wants to pop balloons. A lot of them. And she is now the proud owner of the Guinness World Record for Fastest Time to Pop 100 Balloons By a Dog. She popped all 100 balloons in just 39.08 seconds, according to Guinness World Records, which announced the news today.
Twinkie totally demolished the previous record held by Cally the Wonderdog in Britain by a little more than two seconds. There was a bit of a rivalry going on, as Cally the Wonderdog beat Twinkie’s mom Anastasia’s Guinness World Record by about 3 seconds. Now that Twinkie the Jack Russell Terrier easily beat Cally The Wonder Dog’s record, will there be a rematch? Nope. Cally the Wonderdog has apparently retired to her doggy yacht. What will it take to get Twinkie and Cally together for a balloon popping match? More dog biscuits? Nah, just more balloons!
Congratulations to Twinkie, for stepping up and bringing the Guinness World Record’s Fastest Time to Pop 100 Balloons By a Dog back to the United States and her family.
