Dog Lovers Vote for Favorite Rescue Story

"Doing More for Pets” contest seeks to raise awareness for rescue animals.

Purina Pro Plan’s Rally to Rescue program has chosen 10 finalists who will compete to win the title of “No. 1 rescue story” in the “Doing More for Pets” contest.

Now through Oct. 30, animal lovers can visit and vote for their favorite rescued pet-and-owner duo. The winner will be announced in November at the Purina National Dog Show. The top team wins a trip to the National Dog Show in Oaks, Pa., and the pet rescue that submitted the pair’s story receives $5,000 worth of Purina Pro Plan pet food.

According to Purina, the contest “promotes the amazing, but often untold, stories of pet rescue and raises awareness about its importance. ‘Doing More for Pets’ honors rescued pets that have overcome great odds to survive and thrive under harrowing circumstances, thanks to the incredible hard work and dedication of small pet rescue organizations.”

The 10 finalists include dogs and cats from across the United States. Many of the pets were seriously injured or ill when they were found and taken to local shelters and rescues. Through the efforts of these organizations, the animals were brought back to health and given a second chance at happiness when they were adopted by loving families.
