Paul and Buddy of San Diego, Calif., are the winners of a recent “Pet Look-Alike” photo contest launched by JetBlue Airways.
The airline unveiled the grand-prize winners of the contest held in celebration of JetPaws, its exclusive new in-cabin program. Paul won roundtrip travel for two, including his dog, to any of the airline’s 51 destinations.
The winning photo was taken while Paul and Buddy were at San Clemente State Beach in Southern California. JetBlue crewmembers chose the photo for Paul and Buddy’s uncanny physical resemblance as well as their mutually relaxed attitude while watching the sunset.
“Buddy and I are both laid back and vigilant for the safety of our family and friends, not to mention everyone has said we share similar facial features,” Paul said. He and his wife plan to take a beach vacation, he said, noting that Buddy loves the ocean.
From Dec. 31, 2008 to Jan. 9, 2009, customers sent their favorite resemblance photo of them with their pet. JetBlue posted the top entries on its website during the contest, and the airline’s crewmembers voted on the top five photos.
Four runners-up were chosen, including: Joe and Kramer of Anchorage, Ala.; Meg and Little of Boston, Mass.; Courtney and Herby of Studio City, Calif.; and Dan and Gizmo of Wayne, Ill. They’ll receive JetBlue’s new JetPaws Pet Carrier and Pet Travel Kit.
The JetPaws pet program was designed to provide pet owners with Travel Petiquette guidelines, which outline the social graces of jetting with small dogs and cats. Customers traveling with pets now receive two bonus award points for each flight through the TrueBlue customer loyalty program.
