The typical Labrador Retriever will scarf down all the food he can get his paws on, but not Cookie. She learned at a young age to only eat half of the food in the bowl she shared with her paw-tner in crime, Stitch, so that Stitch could eat the rest.
“My dog Stitch trained my other dog Cookie to only eat half the food that’s in the bowl,” actor and director Easton Dufur posted on Twitter. “So ever since she was young she knew to leave half the food so Stitch can have some (he liked to make sure she would eat).”
Sadly, Stitch died earlier this month and Cookie continues to only eat half the food, even though Dufur is giving her a smaller portion.

“Well before I went to bed, I wanted to check to see if she ate. And so I did, and she still left half of her food there so Stitch can eat,” Dufur tweeted on June 11.
Dufur told Mashable his family got Stitch when he was in kindergarten and Cookie around the time he was in third grade. Now that Cookie has lost her BFF of many years, her family is making sure she isn’t lonely.

“We still are making sure that she is getting love and comfort that she needs right now,” he said. “So she is doing well.”
Stitch may be gone, but he is not forgotten.
