Do Good Dog Wins Spot in the Limelight

Labrador Retriever, Brooks and her owner, will star in a national ad for IAMS, featuring their real-life "Love Tail.”

IAMS Love Tails IAMS Love Tails kicked off on February 14 as a nationwide contest in search of heartwarming love stories between pets and their owners. More than 500 dog and cat owners submitted their stories and photos for consideration through March 3. A total of 11 finalists were selected based on the unique bond that they share with their dogs and cats, and the important role that IAMS plays in those relationships.

During the week of June 24, each finalist’s “Love Tail” was brought to life in a video that premiered on the IAMS Facebook page. IAMS asked its Facebook fans to “Like” their favorite “Love Tails” as a way to help the pet food maker choose the grand-prize winner.

Brooks is a trained therapy dog who lives with her owner Derek Underwood. She visits assisted living homes to make people feel special, put a smile on their faces and make a difference in their lives. Derek says Brooks makes him want to be a better person. When the pair isn’t making a difference in other people’s lives, Brooks likes to do cannon balls in the pool, play water soccer and have play dates with canine friends.

“We were so inspired by all of our Love Tails finalists and their stories of unconditional love; selecting just one winner was a tough choice,” says Kristine Decker, marketing director, Iams North America. “Brooks and Derek have a special connection that really celebrates how pets affect our lives every day and we look forward to sharing their “tail” across the country.”
