Our hearts are breaking for singer Demi Lovato, whose dog Buddy was killed over the weekend in what she described as a “tragic accident.”
Lovato expressed her grief in a post that she shared on Twitter, writing that she was “devastated” by the loss of her beloved pet.
“Buddy was loved by so many people and as small as he was, he made a huge impact in our lives,” she wrote. “He truly was human in a way and we were so blessed to have him in our lives.”
Lovato has asked for privacy while she and her boyfriend, actor Wilmer Valderrama, try to cope with their unexpected loss.
TMZ reports that Buddy was killed by a coyote in the yard of Lovato’s Los Angeles home, but honestly, the details don’t matter. She’s lost her pet, her companion and one of her truest loves.
Lovato was beyond close to little Buddy, who was given to her as a Christmas gift last year. Buddy soon had his own Instagram account and Lovato frequently posted pictures of the two of them together, snuggling, playing and being all-around adorable together.
“We will never forget our baby boy Buddy and his gentle loving spirit will live on in our hearts forever,” she wrote.
Thank you for sharing him with us, Demi. We’re so sorry for your loss.
