Christina Summitt’s paw-print tattoo often gets conversation started at her bar tending job at the Holiday Inn in Clinton, New Jersey. Patron’s and Summitt discuss their love of animals and Summitt’s work volunteering with Pit Bull and finding homes for a variety of animals.
But on Saturday, the conversation got a bit more personal. When chatting with a couple at the bar, Summit found herself telling the about her “baby,” Tucker, an adopted Great Dane-Labrador mix who had just gone through a $2,700 emergency surgery after he swallowed a plastic ball.
The couple had drinks and dinner at the bar, adding up a tab of $80, but when it came time to pay the bill, the man who signed the bill decided to leave a little bit extra on the tip; a thousand dollars extra to be exact.
According to a report by CNN, the 37-year-old who works three jobs in between volunteering, caring for her three step-children and watching over her mischievous dog started crying when she collected the bill.
“I went back over and said ‘Sir, I cannot accept this, what is this for, why would you do this?'” she told CNN. “I just stood there in shock. I walked around and hugged this couple. They said, ‘We’ll be praying for Tucker.'”
The tip has been confirmed legitimate, but the generous gentleman has chosen to remain anonymous.
