Community Rallies to Help Find a Stranger’s Lost Cat

After a cat goes missing, Indiana residents join forces to help find him.

Have you ever lost a cat? Have you ever lost him in a town you knew nothing about? Did the residents of that town, having never met you, help look for your missing cat?

I must say that the answer to all of those questions for me is no. That just may be the answer to all the questions for you too, but for Hallie Winter, the answer is yes. Winter had just gotten a new job in Oklahoma and was traveling from her home in Buffalo, New York to her new residence, RTV6 reports. She stopped in Plainfield, Indiana to rest. As she was carrying her cat, Luke, to their room at Budget Inn on Gateway Drive, she noticed he seemed scared.

No doubt Winter was right. At first chance, Luke escaped and went missing. Winter was unable to catch him, according to RTV6. She searched for the 10-year-old cat, but did not find him. Unfortunately needed to get to Oklahoma and could not stay longer to look for the kitty. Instead, she reached out on the town’s community board asking for help:

PLAINFIELD FOLLOWERS! Please help us with reuniting Luke, an older, neutered, Tabby cat with his family! On 5/26/15 -…

To her astonishment, the community was very helpful, even posting fliers and volunteering to go look for Luke.

“This community is truly amazing,” Winter told RTV6. “I pray that he is found and I appreciate everyone that is helping to look for him from the bottom of my heart.”
