Choosing a Dog Sitter

Before hiring someone to care for your dog, be sure to ask these three questions.

Spring is here, and summer is right around the corner. Summer travel is something most families plan on, but have you thought about what your dog will do while you’re away?

If you’ve decided to hire a dog sitter to keep Rex safe and stimulated when you’re away from home, you’re on the right track. To ensure your dog is in the hands of a responsible and experienced dog sitter, ask these three questions during the interview.

1. Is the sitter a member of an accredited national pet-sitters association such as the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS)? Organizations like this provide location and training resources and instill a code of ethics.

2. Can dog sitter provide local references that can be checked prior to hiring?

3. Is the dog sitter insured and bonded with credentials?

Knowing your dog will be in good hands will help make any vacation or trip easier.
