Cat Runs for President. Running Mate: Cat Puns

Is Limberbutt McCubbins a Demo-cat? What's his cat-form? And why has this cat acheived more at age 5 than I have in my entire life?

Together, we cat.

NPR reported this week that a resident of Louisville, Ky., entered the U.S. presidential race recently — one Limberbutt McCubbins.

McCubbins stands out for his youth, drive and being a cat.

His campaign began this spring when high school student Isaac Weiss logged on to the Federal Election Commission’s website and made “The Committee for the Installation of Limberbutt.” The executive-branch-hopeful cat belongs to Weiss’ friend and fellow high-school student Emilee McCubbins.

From the story on NPR member station WFPL: “According to Federal Election Commission filings, Limberbutt is a Democrat. Or as Weiss puts it, a ‘demo-cat.'”

The campaign already has promotional products for sale and a Facebook page, full of similar sentiments: “The time is meow, watch out Hillary!”

Comments on the NPR.org story keep the ball rolling:
His views on some issues certainly give me paws.
He’s paw-sibly the best candidate to enter the race, and he definitely has the power of purr-suasion among his constituents.
In his background, there is a tail to tell.
They hope to find his lynx to cat burglary, or catch him lion.

Also: many references to legalizing catnip.

The cat’s presidential bid began as a joke by Weiss and his friends. As for the validity of the campaign, a Federal Elections Commission spokesperson said launching a committee to
get a cat on the ballot requires fundraising, however, doesn’t break FEC rules, per se.

Or: Purr-se?

Please contribute to Limberbutt McCubbins’ “nom” for the presidency by donating your own pun.
