When Liel Ainmar Assayag was pregnant, her cat often curled up to and buried her face in Assayag’s belly.
After months of growing close to Assayag’s imminently arriving son, her cat, Panda, continued to cuddle with the baby boy upon birth last November. Assayag’s Facebook posts depict the deep bond between the two in pictures and videos.
The translation of her posts from Hebrew proclaim the cat’s strong love.
“She kept him for 9 months [when] he was in the belly and now she’s keeping him when he’s already out… Love unconditionally!” she writes.
Assayag appears to be aware of the stereotypes about cats being aloof. She makes a point of contradicting it in one of her posts.
“To all those who claim that cats don’t care,” she begins in a post. The video that follows illustrates how much Panda loves to stay close to the baby-to-be.

“For sure, she’s not bothering or hurting the little one any way and he looks happy,” Assayag writes in another post.
Some babies love their cats. It looks like the feeling could be mutual between pets and little people from the start.
As a famous movie once put it, we think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
