Cat Art Show LA was great. Could Cat Art Show LA 2: The Sequel be as good? Quite pawsibly.
This year, the fine art exhibit focusing on felines will take place at the Think Tank Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles and feature more than 70 artists starting Mar. 24. All artworks will be up for sale and portions of sales will go to cat advocacy group Kitten Rescue.
The first Cat Art Show LA took place in 2014 and drew thousands of art lovers and cat fans. This year’s collection, curated again by Susan Michals, promises to provide as strong a draw. Michals has had success with endeavors such as the previous cat art show and with her creation CatConLA, a convention for cat people that brought 10,000 happy feline fans together last June.
The big draw this year is Walter Chandoha, long-time cat photographer. “He’s the godfather of cat art!” Michals says. His “Five Kittens” photo will be on display. “This piece has never been available for sale to the general public, ever.”
“We have artists like Norman Reedus — he’s also a photographer in addition to being a zombie killer on ‘The Walking Dead’ — plus Mark Ryden and many others,” Michals said.
