Canine Cancer Awareness Campaign Raises Over $5000

Photos of dogs bring in thousands of dollars to help canine cancer.

Many pet parents have gone through the pain of listening to the veterinarian say that their dog has cancer. The diagnosis and subsequent events are both emotionally and financially draining. A struggle often ensues over what the best thing to do may be.

Each year, six million dogs are diagnosed with cancer. And that’s just in the United States.

Zuke’s, a premium pet treat company, wanted to do its part in helping animals with cancer and did so by helping to found the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund.

Dedicated to the prevention, treatment and understanding of canine and feline cancer, the nonprofit organization provides treatment grants to help pay the vet bills to those who qualify as well as funds the research of new cancer treatments. Since 2007, they have helped over 250 animals.

As dog lovers, we want to do everything we can to not let our pets suffer.

Zuke’s knew this and created their annual “Fuel the Love – Fuel the Cure” campaign. The campaign, which was created to celebrate dogs, invited dog lovers to share photographs and videos of their dogs online with the hashtag #FuelTheLove. For every entry received Zuke’s donated $5 to the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund. This year the campaign raised over $5000.

“Zuke’s already donates a portion of all product sales to the Dog and Cat Cancer Fund,” Chris Meiering, Zuke’s Director of Marketing and co-founder of the DCCFund, stated in a press release. “This annual campaign is a push for pet owner engagement and education surrounding a cause that is very near and dear to our hearts. We hope that by involving our consumers in this effort, we not only bring awareness to the fight against cancer but also let them know that resources are available for families through organizations like The Dog and Cat Cancer Fund.”
