Brittany Dogs – Bright and Beautiful

Next to enthusiasm and curiosity, the Brittany's best quality may be his physical and mental agility.

After her dog, Ch. Magic Sir-ly You Jest, Jester, won Best of Breed at the 2002 Westminster Kennel Club dog show in New York, Nichole Otterson decided it was time to return to the field. And Jester, a model of Brittany perfection, was ready to get his paws dirty, too.

At his first field trial, Otterson recalls that Jester went into focused performance mode — something he also did well at dog shows. He went right over to the bush, sniffed out a bird, and carried it back like it was a big trophy, recalls the Brighton, Colo., breeder, owner, and handler of champions since 1989.

Brittanys are just as happy to be in the show ring or field as they are to be bringing you the morning paper, Otterson says. They crave human companionship and will do just about anything for you.
