Brandy Is Named the ‘World’s Smallest Dog’

Guinness Book of World Records awards Chihuahua the "World's Smallest Dog" title.

At just 6 inches long and not even two pounds, Brandy the Chihuahua easily draws stares. And when the Guinness Book of World Records named her the Smallest Dog in the World, the attention only increased.

Brandy’s owner, Paulette Keller, takes it all in stride. She doesn’t allow the dog on the furniture for fear she’d jump off and break a leg. And to keep the dog warm, Keller carries her around in a sheepskin-lined purse.

Last year the Pedigree dog food company flew the pair to Reno, Nev., where Brandy appeared with one of the world’s largest dogs at a 3-day casino exhibit.

Other than that, the perks have been few. But Keller doesn’t care. “I just love her,” she told the St. Petersburg Times. “It wouldn’t matter if she’s the smallest. She’s just a really sweet dog.”
