Poly, the blind Pit Bull who was found abandoned on a California park bench, has been placed in a new, loving foster home.

Jennifer Wales, the president and founder of Foreverhome Pet Rescue, saw a post about Poly on her Facebook feed and she immediately called the rescue organization that had taken the 3-year-old dog in, ABC News reports. Wales and Foreverhome were able to find a suitable foster home for Poly where she is thriving, despite her other serious medical conditions.

“I’ve been rescuing dogs for 25 years and she [Poly] reminded me so much of another dog that changed my life, who was also a blind pit bull,” Wales told ABC News.

Poly is not yet available for adoption, at least not until her other medical issues have been assessed and — if possible — treated. She could potentially need a serious (and expensive) heart surgery to correct a heart murmur and she also has a skin condition that causes scabbing, as well as a potential ringworm infection.

A fund has been set up to raise money for Poly’s medical treatment, and Wales said that any donations that aren’t spent on Poly will be given to other nonprofit organizations that work with dogs who also need expensive diagnostics and specialist medical care.

“But my life is going to be SOOPER GOOD HAPPY now — and I really want to help other doggies find good happies,” Poly (or one of her rescuers) wrote on Facebook. And we’re happy knowing that she’s happy now, too.
