Kaytee sponsors 2007 ecotour to Brazil

Kaytee 2007 ecotourNumerous birds and other animals make their homes in the northeastern cerrado habitat of Brazil, including hyacinth macaws, unique hummingbirds, the king vulture, toco toucans, the maned wolf and monkeys. Kaytee’s Avian Foundation in association with the BioBrasil Foundation and Tropical Nature Travel offer the opportunity to catch a glimpse of these rare creatures with an ecotour to the area July 7 to 17, 2007.  Attendees stay at the lodge within the Parnaiba Headwaters National Park, which contains more than 1,500 hyacinths on the grounds.

The Kaytee Avian Foundation, which sponsors several conservation, research and education projects (www.kaytee.com/avian_foundation), frequently hosts ecotours internationally and locally, said Michelle Goodman, Kaytee’s avian research center manager. Ecotourism benefits the local people as well as the animal inhabitants of a region, she added.

For more information on the ecotour, call Tropical Nature Travel at (800) 669-9580 or visit www.tropicalnaturetravel.com/travel/specials/kaytee.
