Bikers may have a rep for being rough and tumble, but one just proved that he’s as soft as a teddy bear – with a fondness for felines!
Pat Doody, motorcyclist and vintage Volkswagen enthusiast, captured the eyes (and hearts) of strangers when he pulled up to the Lowbrow Getdown gathering at Ohio’s Nelson Ledges Quarry Park with a furry companion hitched upon his shoulder. While the cat’s presence was unexpected at the chopper convention, his story was one that demanded the rapt attention of bikers within earshot – and even a few folks merely passing through.
“I was coming back from Born Free in California, and we had made it to Nevada,” Pat told RevZilla. “I was at this truck stop getting gas, and this little guy just needed help. He was pretty badly burned, so I picked him up and tucked him inside my vest. We’re feeding him regularly now, so he’s doing better, even though he’s sort of living on the road until we get home.
“He’s been eating tuna fish out of those dry-foil packs you can buy, and his burns are pretty much all healed up except for the little spot on his lip. He’s so chill. He just hangs out in my vest when we get on the road. I’ve never met a cat so calm.”
Dubbed Party Cat, the cute kitty earned a forever home with New Jersey native Doody – which he arrived at last week. Though content in his new digs, Party Cat, who started out in a bad spot, has fond memories of his cross-country trip of a lifetime – which included cuddling with the stuffed monkey Pat’s posse purchased for him, brunching with his human dad, exploring abandoned airplanes, and taking in the gorgeous scenery. And when he became too tuckered out? He just curled up in Pat’s vest for a cat nap!
Since settling in with Doody, Party Cat has been given a clean bill of health by veterinarians.
Perhaps there’s another road trip in Pat and Party Cat’s future? We predict yes!
