Big Cat Show Comes to Pennsylvania

Kay Rosaire's Big Cat Encounter is holding free shows at the Crawford County Fair until Aug. 26.

Samson, a male white tiger, and four other tigers will be on display this weekend at the Crawford County Fair in West Mead Township, Pa. Kay Rosaire’s Big Cat Encounter of Sarasota, Fla., will hold three free shows daily, at 2, 6 and 8 p.m., in a tent near the Youth Show Arena.

Fair visitors can view the tigers and learn about their lifestyles and natural habitats. Kay Rosaire and her son, Clayton, will be on hand to answer questions. “We try to raise awareness about the animals and show what the animals can do,” said Clayton Rosaire. “We show their natural behaviors: sitting up, jumping and their athletic ability, like standing on their hind legs.”

At the end of each show, visitors can pay $10 to have a Polaroid picture taken with Samson, the white tiger. Samson poses in a clear Plexiglas cage, which people stand in front of for the photo. Proceeds from the sale of photographs go to help save more animals.
