As the residents of Paris continue to restore their lives following the November 13 terrorist attacks on the city, a country to the north is finding itself in the spotlight after the capitol city of Brussels this weekend was placed under the highest level of terror alert.

But despite the unspecified “serious and imminent threat” of an ISIS attack on the city — which also is the main seat of the European Parliament — Belgians are using humor to defuse the fear of what could happen with something that makes everyone laugh, whether they are a fan of cats or not, reports CNN.

That’s right… those silly, adorable and oftentimes hilarious memes and photos of funny felines, kitschy kitties, mischievous meowers and more are flooding the European (and beyond!) Internet to put a smile on the faces of those in possible immediate danger, as well as the global community at large.

A mass of #BrusselsLockdown posts have populated Twitter since Saturday, reportedly following a request from the country’s federal police to its residents to “maintain silence about the ongoing counter-terror operations on social media.”

And the Belgians did not disappoint.

Check out some of the favorites and join the residents of Brussels as they collectively “say” to the terrorists, “Fear? Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

And finally a thank you from the police for the overwhelming support.
