Bathing When Vacuum Is On

Pet birds often bathe when an owner is vacuuming.

When the vacuum cleaner is turned on, many parrots are abruptly inspired to dive into their water bowls to take a bath.

Frankly, we have no idea. Years ago, parrot behavior consultant Sally Blanchard theorized that the sound of a vacuum might instinctually remind parrots of waterfalls. That is as good a theory as any.

Make certain you wait until after vacuuming to put clean papers in a parrot’s cage!
