Dr. Byron de la Navarre attended Cornell University as an undergraduate and received his DVM degree in 1990 from the Veterinary College at Cornell. Though his main focus was feline and canine medicine and surgery, between his third and fourth year of veterinary school, he externed at over 12 zoos in North and Central America, Europe and Israel. Currently he is Chief of Staff for the Exotics Service at Animal House of Chicago, Complete Veterinary Care at 2752 West Lawrence Avenue in Chicago. He has lectured on exotic pet topics at the local, state and national levels.
Dr. de la Navarre is a member of the Association of Zoological Veterinarians. He is on the Executive Board of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians where he serves on several committees, including the Conservation & Research Committee Chairperson, Literature Review Editor, as well as Past President of the ARAV. He is active in the Association of Avian Veterinarians, presently serving as the Illinois State Liaison. He is also a member and on the Research Committee of the Exotic Mammal Veterinarians. Dr. de la Navarre is a member of the AVMA and was on the Membership & Service Committee. He is a Past-President of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) as well as an active member of the Chicago Herpetologic Society.
