Audrey has been involved with animals her entire life. Her first pet was a German Shepherd-mix named Jackie, followed by a host of other creatures, including horses, cats, rabbits, mice, hamsters, lizards, turtles, tortoises, birds, fish and a snake. She became involved with animal rescue at a young age, saving cats, dogs, birds and other animals in need of help. To this day, Audrey actively supports animal welfare organizations and has served on the Board of Directors for several animal-related non-profit organizations.
An award-winning professional writer and editor since 1984, Audrey is a former managing editor of Dog Fancy magazine, former interim editor of Dog World magazine and former senior editor of the AKC Gazette. She has authored seven books on dogs, is a member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants, the Dog Writers Association of America and the Cat Writers Association. Audrey lives in Norco, Calif., with two dogs, four cats, two horses, a rabbit and six chickens.
