Andis Hearts and Paws Award

Do you know a groomer who would do anything to help an animal in need, who would never turn a blind eye to a homeless pet and who truly enjoys giving back?

doberman Andis Company is announcing a new award appropriately titled Hearts & Paws to bestow upon the groomer who is truly in it for the love of animals.
Nominate a groomer by submitting an essay, up to 500 words, with a photo through the Andis Facebook page and app.  Essays and pictures can be submitted to

For every eligible nominations submitted through January 18, Andis will donate $10 to the ASPCA®, up to a maximum contribution of $10,000.

“As a company of pet lovers, Andis understands that many groomers do what they do because it’s a calling they can’t ignore,” says Karen Formico, vice president of marketing at Andis. “Developing this special award is our way of honoring groomers who are in it for the love, who demonstrate compassion toward animals and expand the world of animal lovers through their actions.”

Essays should convey the nominee’s love for grooming and show how they exhibit kindness and compassion toward animals. Examples include everything from volunteer dog walking for an elderly neighbor to helping out at shelters, foster parenting dogs, or participating in pet related community projects. Groomers are encouraged to nominate themselves.

At the end of the nomination period, a panel of judges that includes Andis employees and industry professionals will select three finalists. They will be chosen based on their contributions to their communities, how well the photos submitted reflect the essays, and what sets the nominee apart from the competition.

Finalists will then be voted on by the public on the Andis Facebook page from January 21 to February 17, 2013.

The Andis Hearts & Paws Award grand prize winner will be awarded a $1,000 Visa gift card and a basket of Andis grooming tools. First and second place winners will receive $250 and $100 Visa gift cards, respectively, along with Andis grooming tools.
