If you didn’t say “awww” when you looked at that picture of Anderson Cooper and his new puppy, then you are dead inside, no matter what your Fitbit says about your heart rate.

The journalist and longtime CNN host posted a picture of the dog to Instagram yesterday, introducing the little Welsh Springer Spaniel to the world.

“My dog Molly passed away a few months ago,” he wrote. “This weekend Lilly showed up! She’s a Welsh Springer Spaniel.”

Seven months ago, Cooper used Instagram to mourn the loss of Molly, an 11-year-old Welsh Springer Spaniel, posting a picture of the dog with her head on his chest.

Cooper is a serious dog lover and, in the months since Molly’s death, he has certainly proved that. In January, he donated enough money to buy at least 18 ballistic vests for a K-9 unit in Norfolk, Virginia. (The specifics of Cooper’s generous gift were not released, but the bulletproof, stab-proof Kevlar vests retail for $2,200 each).

So welcome to the family, little Lilly. You’ve found yourself a good guy.
