John Slattery learned about his Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama Series while out walking his dog.
“I didn’t find out until I checked my messages while walking the dog,” the “Mad Men” actor told The Hollywood Reporter. “I was bending over picking up dog [poop], but doing it while finding out something like this is the best way,” he laughs.
The “Mad Men” actor says he didn’t expect the nomination, and is thrilled that the AMC series received several nods, including ones for Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Jon Hamm and Best Drama Series. “It’s great to be part of a show that isn’t everywhere yet; it’s on the ascendance,” he says.
Slattery says he has little time to celebrate the nomination since he’s been spending 16-hour days filming the show’s next season.
“It’s all work and family right now,” he said, adding that the recognition is “gratifying. It shows that it’s time well spent.”
