A Balanced House

Create the right habitat for your ferret and apply feng shui techniques to it.

Ferrets radiate energy in everything they do — running, chasing, playing, tunneling, mischief-making. That irrepressible zest and vitality are almost infectious.

Paula Brown, a Black Hat feng shui practitioner based in California and the author of Fur Shui (www.furshui.com), would tell you that’s not a coincidence. “Animals are natural chi (energy) carriers.” When they’re brought into a home, they naturally boost the energy and balance in that space.

The ancient Chinese art of feng shui has been practiced for thousands of years. And pets have long been contributing their positive energy to the homes of their owners.

“Feng shui, in a nutshell, is about creating greater harmony between people, animals and the environment,” Brown said.

Interestingly, the same feng shui concepts that we use can also be applied to ferrets and their housing. To understand how, let’s first consider the basic caging needs of fuzzies and later return to feng shui.
